DAYTONA, FL – Qualifying took place late in the afternoon and presented Gavin with a unique set of conditions.
The setting sun was blindingly bright during the first few laps of the brief session and coincided with a rapid temperature drop. That drop made the engines happy, but also presented a limited window of opportunity to get a quick lap in before the track temp dropped.
Gavin managed to record his best lap of the weekend in that brief window and was thrilled with his result.
I felt like this session more than ever before, I was able to really wring the neck of the car and get everything possible out of it.
