INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Five-time IMSA winner and six-time World’s Weakest Man competitor Jon Morley will be missing round 9 of the Michelin Pilot Challenge, after injuring his abdomen while attempting to embrace and lift his young son off the ground. The weight of the 4 year old child, who it must be noted is small for his age (we’re talking 20th percentile) proved to be too much for the patchy smattering of muscle fibers holding Morley’s core together.
“Well obviously, he’s grounded,” Morley stated from the hospital bed he had constructed for himself in his apartment. “And sadly this means I’ve had to institute a strict no hugging policy a month out from any of my upcoming races.”
The team has decided to bring in Tom O’Gorman to partner Gavin Ernstone, after giving him an emergency tryout, where he proved to be the most qualified candidate by demonstrating his ability to lift multiple 4 year olds at the same time.

“Tom O has been on our radar for some time,” Ernstone said. “We’ve always known him to be one of the fastest touring car drivers in the nation and the test of strength really sealed the deal. We feel confident he’ll be able to deliver on track, while at the same time withstanding any stiff breezes that may blow through the paddock.”
Morley will still be attending the race weekend to act as a driver coach and spotter. However, even that was in doubt briefly, as the team ran into supply chain issues while sourcing the copious amounts of plastic required to construct the 7 foot bubble that will protect him over the weekend.
