Defending Daytona TCR Winners Road Shagger Racing are returning for their sixth IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season.
The driver lineup remains the same as it ever was; with Gavin Ernstone eager to reclaim his title of “oldest race winner” after the retirement of his old rival Roy Block. He’s joined once again by the formerly young Jon Morley, who is keen to show he can still keep ahead of the teenagers for one more season.

Both drivers are very much looking forward to celebrating their 50th IMSA start, which will come in their sixth start of the season. It’s a milestone neither of them dared to dream of when they first started sharing a wheel back in 2009. But after thousands of laps around California’s finest tracks (and a few “others”) while racing in NASA and thousands of hours of hard work by Ernstone building Simply Vegas, the opportunity to race in IMSA came and they’ve never looked back!
Throughout their IMSA career, Daytona has been feast or famine for the team, with two victories and three DNFs in their five starts.
The Shaggers won last year’s race in a black and gold first-generation Audi RS 3 TCR. This year they’re bringing a gen 2 Audi to the fight cloaked in the flat-navy “Road Shagger Classic” livery.
When combined with the return of nearly all of their key team members, it’s a formidable combination to say the least.
In fact, Ernstone and Morley are so excited about the package they’ve got, they’ve elected to skip their pre-race round of golf to practice a few more driver changes. If that’s not real commitment, I don’t know what is.
